Daily Schedule for Portugal Teacher Training

Friday, October 25:

Flight to Porto 6:05 – 7:45

8:00 – 9:30 = transport via car or shuttle from Porto airport to Eco Dharma Village. 

10:00 – 12:00 = TT Session 1; Getting Started; so you want to become a barre instructor? Discussion of job responsibilities, practicalities, and how to set up your class warmup. Discussion about dynamic versus static stretching and application. 

12:00 – 13:00 = healthy, vegan lunch prepared onsite

13:00 – 14:00 = short nature walk in the Forrest area around Eco Dharma Village.

14:00 – 16:00 = TT Session 2; Basics of Anatomy for Barre. In this session, we will cover the major muscles and muscle groupings used in barre and begin our conversation about proper alignment and good form when executing barre exercises which promotes the best results from your barre practice. 

16:00 – 16:30 = short coffee and tea break.

16:30 – 18:30 = TT Session 3; Teaching Skills outline. During this interactive session, we will overview your completed Class Evaluations and brainstorm some do’s and dont’s when it comes to cueing, coaching, correcting, props, and musicality during a barre lesson. 

18:30 – 19:30 = healthy, vegan dinner prepared onsite 

20:30 – 21:00 = barre and alcohol-free beers social class. 

Saturday, October 26: 

8:30 – 9:30 = healthy, vegan breakfast prepared onsite 

9:30 – 13:00 = TT Session 4; Foundational Thigh and Booty Variations. In this session, we will go over essential thigh and booty variations for barre, which muscles they engage and how, common mistakes to look out for, and cues to use to help others understand correct alignment. 

13:00 – 14:00 = healthy lunch prepared onsite 

14:00 – 16:00 = TT Session 5; Musicality for Instructors. During this session, we will practice working with music, timing barre exercises to the beat, and strategies for how to build a perfect barre playlist. 

16:00 – 16:30 = short coffee and tea break.

16:30 – 17:30 = 60 minutes refreshing Flow yoga class taught by Chantal.

17:30 – 19:00 = Review/ Quiz of Foundation Content

19:00 – 20:00 = healthy dinner prepared onsite 

20:30 – 21:00 = express Booty Burn master class. 

Sunday, October 27 

8:30 – 9:30 = healthy breakfast prepared onsite 

9:30 – 10:30 = energizing morning walk in nature

10:30 – 13:00 = TT Session 6; Foundational Core and Arm Variations. During this session, well begin discussing the essential core and arm work variations you need to know for an effective total body workout, as well as review the thigh and booty variations from the day before. 

13:00 – 14:00 = healthy lunch prepared onsite 

14:00 – 16:30 = TT Session 7; Practice! During this session we’ll be applying what we’ve learned so far by teaching the foundational exercises to each other, crafting clear cues, and practice spotting mistakes/ making corrections. 

16:30 – 19:00 = longer nature walk or visit into Ponte de Lima

19:00 – 20:00 = healthy dinner prepared onsite 

Monday, October 28 

8:00 – 8:30 = Express Barre HIIT Masterclass; wake up workout! 

8:30 – 9:30 = healthy breakfast onsite 

9:30 – 13:00 = TT Session 8; Advanced Thigh and Booty exercises. During this session, well start discussing more advanced exercises to use for thighs and booty, correct alignment, common mistakes, and how to cue them.

13:00 – 14:00 = healthy lunch prepared onsite 

14:00 – 16:30 = TT Session 9; Sequencing; structuring your warm up, planning variations for your thigh and booty sections. During this interactive session, we will be building your class outline and developing/ editing your first sequence as well as analyzing it and practice the sequence with other participants. 

16:30 – 17:00 = short coffee and tea break 

17:00 – 19:00 = TT Session 10; Advanced Core and Arm Variations. During this session, we’ll start discussing more advanced exercises to use for core and arms with correct alignment, common mistakes, and how to cue them.

19:00 – 20:00 = healthy dinner prepared onsite 

20:30 – 22:00 = 90 minutes Yin yoga with Chantal.

Tuesday, October 29 

8:30 – 9:30 = healthy breakfast onsite 

9:30 – 13:00 = TT Session 11; Practice! During this session we’ll be applying what we’ve learned so far by teaching exercises to each other, crafting clear cues, and practice spotting mistakes/ making corrections. 

13:00 – 14:00 = healthy lunch prepared onsite 

14:00 – 16:30 = TT Session 12; Barre Business discussion. In this session, we will discuss how to go about setting up your business as a freelancer, how to secure interviews and auditions, and how to continue to develop and grow as an instructor. 

16:30 – 17:00 = short coffee and tea break 

17:00 – 19:00 = TT Session 13; Putting it all together. This session is an overview o what we have learned during this intensive course and a final practice opportunity for participants to get more “teaching” practice, in preparation for their upcoming auditions! 

19:30 – ? = Celebratory dinner and graduation at a nearby restaurant!  

Wednesday, October 30 

8:00 – 9:00 = healthy breakfast onsite 

9:00 – 10:30 = travel by car/ shuttle to Porto airport 

12:35 to 14:20 = return flight from Porto to Amsterdam (suggested Transavia flight HV2006)

** Please note these flight time are suggestions. Participants are responsible for purchasing their own flight tickets in a timely manner. If your flight departs or arrives at a different time than the ones listed here, an additional charge for transport to Eco Dharma Village may apply. You may also feel free to arrive in Portugal sooner or stay later to enjoy other parts of the country or explore Porto! Meet Taylor

American born, Netherlands Resident Taylor is an international Master barre Teacher! She specialise in providing group barre lessons which are not only challenging but also very fun. Her classes are loud + high energy group experiences which utilise great playlists to keep everyone working together on the beat! Her passion for barre fitness has led her to expand her business beyond teaching group lessons; as she also organises workshops, retreats, teacher trainings, and other events centred around her favourite way of working out!
